The term “Executive Protection” was coined in the 1970s by the United States Secret Service when they created the Executive Protection Service to protect visiting foreign dignitaries.
Executive Protection (EP) also known as Close Personal Protection or Body Guarding refers to security measures taken to ensure the safety of individuals who may be exposed to elevated personal risk because of their employment, elected office, candidacy, celebrity status, wealth, associations or geographical location.
Although many people may not like the additional security at first because the executive protection personal may be noticed, a genuine security detail is respected and elevates the professional and social status of the person being protected.
Executive protection occasionally becomes an item of general public interest, when it fails. This is usually the result of hiring and utilizing personal that are volunteers or willing to work cheap. These people are generally NOT certified, NOT trained or have limited experienced in the field of Personal Protection. To ensure that your service is to the highest quality standards, The Excel Group is comprised of "Active" Law Enforcement (POLICE) professionals. Our Executive Protection (Bodyguard) services and Investigations have received national recognition. We have been providing Protective Services for over 20 years.
In the past, this service was exclusive for the wealthy, most famous, and high ranking elected officials and dignitaries. In recent years, the Executive Protection field has become in demand because people find themselves becoming a target and requiring personal security as a result of; the decline in the economy, their successful imagine projected by their average business, a termination of an employee at work, a relationship that has become violent, the high number of kidnappings and violent crimes which is generally due to a person who must conduct business in a violent location. The possibility of a violent confrontation or a traffic altercation, which may harm a person’s imagine in the media, have caused locally elected officials, members of a political organization and candidates to re-evaluate their personal security to include a professional Protection Detail.
Protective measures may include home security, Body-Guards, Armored vehicles, scramble plans, mail screening, and background checks for person who may come in contact with the person(s) being protected, also known as the Protectee or client. Executive protection may also provide security for immediate and/or extended family members to prevent kidnappings and extortion.
